Primary Healthcare Initiatives (PHI)

Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIMU), has partnered with Basic Healthcare Services (BHS), a leading not-for-profit organization specialising in primary healthcare and to form the Primary Healthcare Initiative. The Primary Healthcare Initiative works towards improving the rural primary healthcare system.

The partnership brings together the expertise of the two leading institutions to promote better understanding of primary healthcare service, especially from a management perspective. The PHI aims to document such understanding and build on it in order to influence practice. The PHI also aims to influence policy.

Consortium for Primary Healthcare

The Consortium for Primary Healthcare (CPH) constitutes a multi-sectoral mix of seven organizations who have come together for synergized and focused interventions for improving the health and wellbeing of the rural and tribal communities in the region of Southern Rajasthan. The consortium members bring in expertise on primary healthcare, telemedicine, management, research, community engagement and empowerment, reproductive and child health, tuberculosis, and multilateral engagement, among others. 

CPH aims to provide an equitable, effective, replicable, and scalable model which works in synergy with the community. The CPH approach will be to develop and test a unique model of providing a comprehensive primary healthcare at the block level. It is envisaged in the form of an implementation research to design an innovative and effective model of comprehensive primary healthcare, which is critical to informing policies and creating social impact.

Partnership with IIM Udaipur Incubation Centre

The Incubation Centre at IIM Udaipur helps the start-ups  and entrepreneurs by providing incubation support in the form of technology support, development of business networks, access to domain experts from IIMU faculty and industry experts with real world experience and fund-raising support. The centre mentors them to become a viable, scalable, and profitable business.

The partnership of IIMU Incubation centre with Centre for Healthcare (CFH) provides a platform for  innovators and ventures who have a potential to create an impact in the primary healthcare (PHC) space to be a part of IIMU Incubation Centre’s various programs and interventions. IIMU Incubation Centre helps these ventures to implement their innovations on ground and develop a framework to assess the impact created by these ventures in the primary healthcare space.

The CFH helps the IIMU Incubation Centre in shortlisting these innovators and ventures, mentor them in the form of understanding the context of rural primary healthcare, evaluate the market offerings, technology, Go to Market Strategy, and establish strategic partnerships. It also provides thought leadership to this partnership through recommendations with a focus on improving quality and accessibility of primary healthcare.
